Realistically we believe everyone should apply sealant, especially those without a perfectly flat roof.

Included in the kit are 4 supplies we commonly need when installing Velit AC units at our shop.

• SikaFlex 221 sealant

• 2 x 16” long, 1” x 2” wood pieces for supporting the interior brackets

• 4 x 3.5” 10-32 machine screws - may be needed for ceilings over 2.5” thick (gap between roof exterior and ceiling interior material)

• 2 x AAA batteries for the remote control

With only 7” of clearance this unit can easily fit in the standard 14x14 rooftop cutout.

VELIT’s AC unit has the same cooling capacity as most competitors at about half the price. With a similar roof profile, it’s a no-brainer. Dometic and Nomadic cooling make several great AC units but this is our personal favorite as it offers performance without the price.

Velit rates this unit for 200 Squarefeet, we would recommend installing one for every 150 SQFT in extreme climates. This is the size of a large sprinter van or bedroom of an RV, multiple AC units can be installed to cool larger areas.

On eco mode, this consumes 22A @ 12V or 11A @ 24V, which is about 265W. It can consume as much as 60A @ 12V or 30A @ 24V, which is 720W, in turbo mode for a brief timespan.

We recommend a minimum of 400ah of 12V lithium battery storage to comfortably power any AC unit overnight. If your van is well insulated, you will use less energy to keep it cool, so you could potentially run this for several days using battery power.

This depends on the size of your solar system. Luckily, in cloudy weather when your panels aren’t producing much, it’s not as hot outside. This means your AC will consume less energy, making AC units a great appliance to power from solar.

Not necessarily. We recommend a minimum of 400ah @ 12V when using lithium or 800ah @ 12V when using led acid batteries. It is possible to power the AC unit with a smaller battery bank, but you will run out of energy faster.

All wire, and all installation materials (except for roof sealant – we recommend SikaFlex 221) are included. However, should you need to extend the wire, we recommend 6awg for 12V and 8awg for 24V.

The AC unit comes with a roof gasket and rear support foam piece, interior support brackets with all hardware, wire with protective loom, a fuse (plus an extra), interior trim ring and machine screws, and a remote control. As stated above, we provide sealant, extended screws, mounting wood and batteries at cost if you desire them. Just select the extra supplies when adding to cart.
